About MEX

We are the bridge between foreign medical technology and German hospitals.

Since 1999 MEX has guided foreign manufacturers of high-quality medical devices into the German market. Our model grew out of a single observation: neither classic distributors nor self-built subsidiaries offer the structural depth the German hospital market demands.

We join up what usually works apart: management, compliance, marketing, sales inside your German company, logistics via DSW Logistik, a Board of Experts drawn from German university hospitals — and, since June 2026, a dedicated Digital Authority module for the visibility of your brand in the German market.

MEX Agency of Medical Experts — the bridge between foreign medical technology and German hospitals
Management

Two disciplines. One management team.

For 27 years MEX has taken foreign manufacturers into the German hospital market. Since 2026 that experience has been extended by a second discipline: visibility where hospital decision-makers do their research today. Our two managing directors combine classic market entry depth and current online marketing expertise under one roof — without you having to coordinate two separate suppliers.

Distributors sell what already sells. We build markets. That takes clinical depth — and we have built ours systematically over 27 years.

Jörg Saborowski founded MEX in 1999, after serving as Managing Director Central Europe at Sherwood Davis & Geck — a division of American Home Products — where he was responsible for building sales organisations in the European healthcare market. Over three decades he has led foreign medical device manufacturers through the regulatory, commercial and cultural particularities of the German hospital market — from the first KOL trial to a successful exit. His work shaped, among others, the German market entry of Zassi Bowel Management (2002 Göttingen University Hospital, 2008 sale to Hollister), Ekos Corporation, Rüsch and NanoVibronix.

Visibility without a sales channel is noise. Visibility that reaches hospital procurement is market entry.

Julian Raab joins MEX Agency of Medical Experts GmbH as its second managing director on 1 June 2026 and is responsible for the new Digital Authority module. He owns and runs the group company RAAB Online-Marketing UG, which supplies the operational online marketing capability for MEX — much as DSW Logistik does for fulfilment. He brings more than 15 years of B2B experience in German-language SEO, AEO/GEO (visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews), LinkedIn outreach across DACH, performance marketing and marketing automation.

For our clients the dual leadership means one contract and two managing directors with complementary depth — and no break in style between strategy, sales and visibility.

History

From a pioneering idea to an established platform.

Six milestones show how a specialist consultancy founded in the Frankfurt region in 1999 became the plug-and-play platform for the German hospital market it is today — and why MEX added a seventh module, Digital Authority, in 2026.

  1. 1999 Founded

MEX is founded in the Frankfurt region.

Jörg Saborowski founds MEX Agency of Medical Experts, based in the Hochtaunus region. It follows his years as Managing Director Central Europe at Sherwood Davis & Geck. The founding idea: to build foreign manufacturers a dependable route into the German hospital market without their having to set up a subsidiary of their own.

  2. 1999 First mandates

Clinical studies and market analyses for Ekos and Rüsch.

In its first year MEX handles two mandates that shape the later service profile: for Ekos Corporation (USA), a clinical study on ultrasound-assisted thrombolysis is set up in Germany. For Rüsch Corporation, a market and competitor study on chest drainage systems and cardioplegia catheters is produced, followed by a successful product launch.

  3. 2002 KOL pioneer

Zassi Bowel Management starts at Göttingen University Hospital.

MEX takes on the German market entry for Zassi Bowel Management Systems (USA) and chooses an unusual route: instead of fast distribution, a clinical trial runs at Göttingen University Hospital — the fifth-largest hospital in Germany. A high-price strategy based on clinical differentiation is established, and the MEX sales network handles the step-by-step roll-out.

  4. 2005 Market breakthrough

Germany becomes the top sales market in Europe — by a factor of 20.

Three years after the first KOL work, Germany is by far the strongest sales market for Zassi in Europe — twenty times the volume of the next-best European market. The success confirms the thesis behind the MEX model: the German hospital market rewards clinically differentiated products that are introduced with the right listing strategy, KOL support and sales structure.

  5. 2008 Exit

Zassi is sold to Hollister, Inc. — three years after the German breakthrough.

After three years of successful commercialisation in more than twenty countries, Zassi is sold to Hollister, Inc., a global healthcare player. MEX supports the transition as continuing adviser and keeps running training and customer onboarding for Hollister across DACH. It is the first time the full MEX roadmap is documented end to end: pre-sale trial → initial sales → scaling → trade sale → post-sale support.

  6. 2026 Module 7

Digital Authority becomes the seventh module — Julian Raab joins as co-managing director.

MEX adds a seventh discipline to the six established modules: Digital Authority — visibility in Google, in the answer engines of ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, on LinkedIn across DACH and in the German professional debate around MDR, KHZG and G-BA. Julian Raab joins as second managing director on 1 June 2026 and takes responsibility for the new module. The operational marketing infrastructure is provided by the group company RAAB Online-Marketing UG — much as DSW Logistik provides the goods logistics.

Board of Experts

A network that knows hospital routine from every perspective.

In a German hospital, a single person rarely decides on a product. It is decided by an interplay: the physician who uses it. The nurse who has to manage with it across shifts. The purchasing department that costs it against the alternatives. The biomedical engineering team that tests and maintains it. Our Board of Experts brings exactly these perspectives together — a network grown over more than two decades across every area of hospital operations.

We name no names. Our experts advise us confidentially and independently of their role with their respective employer. This discretion is not a formality but the precondition for honest assessments — including the uncomfortable ones. Which profiles are relevant for your indication is something we discuss concretely in the strategy call, under an NDA where required.

  • Medical specialties

Heads of department and senior physicians from surgery, anaesthesiology, intensive care medicine, urology, cardiology and further disciplines — at university hospitals, maximum-care hospitals and specialist clinics.

  • Nursing & ward management

Nursing directors, ward managers and theatre leads. They judge whether a product is workable in shift operations — the most common quiet reason why good products are never reordered.

  • Hospital purchasing & materials management

Strategic purchasing, materials management and contacts inside group purchasing organisations. They give us the reality behind listing processes, framework agreements and price negotiations.

  • Administration & controlling

Commercial directors, medical controlling and DRG officers. Their perspective decides whether a product can be justified within a hospital’s revenue calculation.

  • Biomedical engineering

Technical directors and MPG/MDR officers. They assess user training, maintenance, compatibility with existing equipment and the requirements of asset management.

  • Laboratory, pharmacy & hygiene

Hospital pharmacy, laboratory medicine and hospital hygiene. For consumables, sterile goods and intensive care products it is often these areas that carry an introduction — or stop it.

For your product this means: we collect feedback from exactly the professional groups that will later decide on introduction, daily use and reordering — before you commit sales budget.

Group companies in the MEX network

Seven modules — two specialist companies — one management team.

Our plug-and-play solution is not an outsourcing network but an integrated group structure. Logistics and Digital Authority sit with specialist group companies — both under shared management, with every module resting on one contracting party: MEX.

Sales stays with us. Marketing infrastructure and goods logistics sit with group companies. Hospital sales does not: it is the discipline MEX grew out of in 1999, and it is built directly inside your German company — not passed on to third parties.

Warehousing · Logistics · Fulfilment Module 5

DSW Logistik GmbH

Warehousing & hospital distribution

DSW Logistik GmbH handles the entire goods chain from the moment your products arrive in Germany: storage in certified logistics centres, freight forwarding, parcel and hospital shipping, returns management and stock control. Warehousing and logistics have been the responsibility of DSW Logistik since 2026.

Digital Authority · Visibility Module 7

RAAB Online-Marketing UG

The operational online marketing infrastructure behind module 7

RAAB Online-Marketing UG, based in Rosbach v.d.H., is owned by MEX co-managing director Julian Raab and has been part of the MEX group since June 2026. It provides the specialist marketing infrastructure behind the seventh MEX module, Digital Authority — search visibility, AEO/GEO, LinkedIn ABM across DACH, thought leadership content and marketing automation.

30-minute discovery call

One market structure — seven modules — one contract.

What you see is an integrated group structure in which every operational discipline is owned by a specialist team — all under one management. That is what separates MEX from the classic mix of distributor, consultancy and your own subsidiary.
